Drako Rundin had a rude awakening to the paranormal world—holy crap, vampires and shifters are real! Still, he thinks it’s pretty cool. After so much time thinking he’s weird for being a gay, video-game-loving geek, he finds he’s not the only oddball. Accepting his new friends’ offer to go to Denver, helping the pair move an ostrich farm in the process, he meets so many more people who are different.
Kwanza learns he’s been in captivity for a long, long time. He’s grateful to the group of friendly paranormals who rescued him and knows they worry about him. While he remembers shifting to human form—decades ago—he struggles to actually do it. The other shifters are patient and accommodating, giving him wide open spaces in which to live.
When Kwanza meets Drako, he recognizes the plump, cute human as his mate. While he succeeds in shifting, he can’t seem to hold it for long. With Drako’s help, can he relearn how to be human all over again?

In the last book, Hating Finn, we meet Victor (vampire) and Finn (Ostrich Shifter). Vic helps human Drako fight off some gay bashers and as their interactions continue, Drako becomes friends, knows about paranormals, and helps on the ostrich farm. Vic and Finn ask Drako to relocate to Denver with them. And so the adventure beings.Kwanza is a bongo shifter, some sort of big African savannah grass eater. His back story is very vague. Who knows which rescued group he was in, where he was held, or why they kept him as long as they did. I assume it was the place that Finn provided the ostrich meat for. I'm sure Kwanza outlived his captors - And I wondered why he didn't connect to anyone for all those years. All rescued shifter seem to bond in captivity with someone!
Nothing like a rare but cute hippo shifter to save the day. What are the chances. My first thought is Kwanza would have someone from Africa to talk to. But no, that didn't happen. So. . It was nice seeing Drako come into his maturity, being accepted, and happy. Despite his being a virgin and Kwanza not being sexually active for over 60 years. . . . They were able to delay their claiming because of the human thing and that they needed to get to know each other. I still don't get the two bear shifters doing a stand off and sending Kwanza into protection mode. You would think other shifters there at Stoneridge would be sensitive about an ongoing mating. Poor Kwanza couldn't get a break. There was also a council visit announced that never happened. - Dan's Wife

Was a good read.
I love this Series so it's no surprise I love this book too Charlie Richards gets your attention in to her books and keeps it until the end ...
I have been reading this series since the beginning and buy each new installment as soon as available. Followers of the series won't be disappointed.
You will love this story, since it's main character was in the previous book. I love when authors bring characters forward.
Excellent series. I'm now waiting for the next book. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes shifter/paranormal books.
Joy, hope, surprises, and a new friend. Two people, both cut off from the world but together they will rediscover some of what they lost. Find some new things, and discover a new sense of belonging.
I sure liked this! I liked Drako and Kwanza together but I LOVED having Kontra & the gang back in action!! Coming to help a "stuck" bongo shift back into his human form, Yuma (one of my favorites!) tries to figure out some answers. All it really takes is Kwanza meeting his mate. Good story & it sets us up for another Konta's Menagerie book!! It's a win-win for me!
